I recently had a few images featuring Austie Eckley‘s amazing hair pieces published in Gala Weddings, a New England magazine. You definitely won’t find it on west coast newsstands, but you can view the full magazine online here!

Vote for me?

If you have a second and a cell phone, please text EQW33P to 53037 to vote for my submission to work with photographer Diana Levine on a shoot in New York. Diana determines the final winner so it doesn’t necessarily come down to votes, but hey, who doesn’t like to look like they have friends? ;) View the contest on Talenthouse here: http://www.talenthouse.com/creativeinvites/preview/kacykizer/107

**Edited To Add: I won! :)

And here are a few more shots from my recent shoot w/ Austie Eckley:

Your Wedding: Hiring an amateur vs professional photographer : Portland Wedding Photographer

I found out about this great article in Seattle Bride magazine this morning, and had to share. One of the most common things I hear when I tell people I’m a photographer is something along the lines of “Oh my sister got married last year and just had a friend take the photos… She regrets it, they didn’t turn out well.” And then maybe followed by something like “She should have hired you!” ;)

This article is written by an amateur photographer who explains the value in hiring a professional. She was asked to shoot a wedding alongside one, and saw the difference firsthand. Please pass this link along to any engaged friends who are considering just using “a friend with a nice camera” to photograph their wedding!

Thanks to Rebecca Knight, a fellow photographer out in Florida, for posting this on her twitter this morning! :)

Survey Says…

One of my short-term goals is to get better about blogging regularly – But as I’m sitting here thinking about what the heck I want to post (i.e., do people really want to know that I had my first squeaky cheese experience this weekend and I’m still acting like a 5 year old over it?), I realized it’d be easier to figure out who’s reading first! Please take a sec to answer the following polls :)

Bend – Spring Portrait Sessions!

This is kinda late notice, but I’ll be in Bend next week, May 14th-17th. I’ve decided to open my calendar up to a few portrait sessions while I’m there – If you’re interested email me at kacy@kacyjo.com for special session rates!

Posts are happier with photos, so here’s one from Meaghan & Sam’s adorable wedding in Bend last summer :)

New site is up!

The new version of the web site is launched, if you haven’t already check it out at www.kacyjo.com !

And while I’m posting, here are a few quick snapshots from last weekend at the Oregon Zoo in Portland. It is pretty impossible to get decent shots at a zoo on a holiday weekend, soo many people! Which is why I need to plan a trip to Africa for proper wild animal photos :)

My sister’s cat sits like this sometimes and I think it’s the weirdest thing! He (or she) looked pretty comfy:
